Explore Veterans Aid and Attendance Benefits

The Aid & Attendance (A&A) Pension provides benefits for veterans of certain specific war periods and their surviving spouses. To qualify for A&A benefits a physician must document the need for assistance with some of the activities of daily living, such as eating, bathing and dressing. The A&A pension can provide up to $1,632/month to a veteran, $1,055/month to a surviving spouse, or $1,949/month to a couple.

  • Eligibility is determined by filing the proper Veterans Application for Pension or Compensation.
  • Application processing can take up to a year, so start at least 6 months before you need the money.
  • Trusted Hands Network has partnered with a select group of companies that can help you with the complicated application process.

Understand Financing Options

Self Pay or Private Pay

The vast majority of home care and a large portion of home health care services are paid “out of pocket,” also called Self Pay or Private Pay, and are paid by the individual, their family or another party. Funding sources for paying Out-of-Pocket include bank accounts, retirement accounts, or liquidation of stocks/bonds.

While determining how to pay for in-home care may seem daunting, it is typically far more cost-effective than either assisted living facilities or nursing homes and allows people to stay at home where they want to be!

Get Around Inside or Outside the House Safely

Many seniors are not yet ready for in-home care but need help dealing with mobility issues. Trusted Hands can help. We’ve researched and screened the leading providers of personal emergency response systems and mobility aids.

  • With a personal emergency response system, if you fall, help is only a push of a button away. Our partner offers no upfront fees, no long-term contracts, and a long history of high level service to families.
  • Our pre-screened mobility partner works with a wide variety of funding sources, including Medicare & Medicaid, making it easier for you to qualify for a mobility product, often at little or no cost to you.

Karissa Price and Mariaelena Gonzalez founded Trusted Hands NetworkSM in 2010. Both of them experienced a time-consuming struggle to find trustworthy and reliable home care service for Karissa’s mother, who has Parkinson’s disease, and Mariaelena’s uncle, who needed hospice after battling cancer. Karissa’s mother was reluctant to leave her home for an assisted living or nursing home, but Karissa increasingly worried about her mother being home alone after a shocking in-home accident brought the reality of her situation to light.
